Sorry to hear that you haven't received what you paid for yet. To be honest, I don't think 10 days is too long although it is frustrating when it's just the bit that you need. Lack of communication is more of an issue however as you don't know where you are.

Hi there, sorry to here about your bad transaction, have faith though i'm sure it will turn up. Did you use paypal gift?
Some guidance notes here http://www.retrobike.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=17697

The guidance has already been referenced but worth repeating the key parts:

The deal

- Use your common sense and discretion!

- Check the users feedback. Either through the feedback forum or by clicking the feedback link below their post >

- We stongly suggest you do not use paypal gift, especially for new users or those with low feedback. As well as giving no protection in case of issue this also breaches paypal's terms and conditions.

- Exchange 'real' contact details like name, address and phone number before the transaction occurs.

- We strongly recommend all items are send via recorded post.

After the deal

- Ensure the item is posted in good time. Equally ensure you leave a reasonable time for it to arrive.

- Use the feedback forum for all trades. Don't be afraid to leave bad feedback if you're unhappy - you could save someone else from having sililar problems. If you wish you can also PM the seller to indicate the goods have arrived.

If you feel you need to make a complaint to a mod please supply the following information

1. Are you buyer or seller.
2. Other user involved
3. Item and price paid.
4. Link to original advert.
5. Nature of complaint.
6. How have you contacted other user. PM, email, phone ?
7. How did you pay? If Paypal gift was used contrary to our guidance this will not be looked on favourably.
8. How was the item sent? If the seller did not use a recorded service contrary to our advice again this will not be looked on favourably.

No guarantees but feel free to drop me a PM with the details outlined above.

What do people think is a reasonable time to wait for something you've paid for?
I always pay as soon as I physically can, so my expectation is that the goods are then sent as soon as possible afterwards, because that's how I do it. If I get payment for something I sell, then as a courtesy I invariably send it the next day if I can.

However, I haven't experienced the same from some sellers. I think more than a week's wait is unreasonable personally, if the item is posted from the UK.

I am impatient by nature, but is a week unreasonable?

I don't think a week is unreasonable, especially if you account for our postal service. And I'm also someone that does my best to pay for/ship things as soon as possible. Sometimes life gets in the way. No communication would give me more concern, but the seller could have posted a few days ago and not been on the internet (some people don't use the internet everyday, amazing as that sounds). When it got to a few weeks, that's when I'd start worrying.

Being TOLD is IMO more important than waiting time itself!

Completely agree, being kept up to date by the seller on what is happening (or being told in the first place "can't post for a week") goes a long way to resolving issues.

Yeah, good comms goes a long way. I've had to wait a long time for things, but have had good comms from seller which alleyed any fears of a bad deal.

I agree if the seller had said that it would take a while, that would make things more acceptable, but he pm'd me on the Wednesday before last to say it will be in first class post on the Thurs - that was 10 days ago! Plus he was posting on STW way after I emailed him chasing it up, and there is a pm to him in my outbox on RB that he didn't even open during that time.

The time is doable, although I wouldn't do it to others myself, the lack of communication isn't acceptable. It appears this isn't a first for him, looking at his feedback. I should have checked that but like someone already said, this is so rare, I've certainly not had a bad transaction before on any forum.

I hope he steps up to the plate and does the right thing...technically if he doesn't it is theft.
