What split-seat tube bike is this?

I don't think it's a Chazal or a Mecacycle. I nearly bought something almost identical to this but a road frame. It was a Sauret, which someone had taken back to the metal and put a clear coat on top. Saurat were famous for weird and wonderful frame designs. Can be had for quite cheap now in France (as with the UK, anything without a fat tube carbon design and integrated stem is going for peanuts).

Nice frame, but definitely on the short wheelbase side, twitchy! Sauret had a shop workshop in Orange
