What rims to choose on 1996 retro bike?

I recently purchased a nice Buck Shaver in Arrest Me! Red. I want to build it up pretty much like in the 1996 Fat Chance catalog, but wouldn't know what rims to choose. What would you recommend? Araya? Ritchey Rock? Mavic 317? There is just so much, but it needs to period correct.
