:)

Crank lenght that is.

I've always had bikes with 175mm so that's what I use.

Does it really make any differance if I use 170 or 180 or even 172.5........

Or does it have something t o do with the length of my legs ?

MTB: 175
Road: 170 & 172.5

I've had 165's on a road bike but felt like a mad hamster on its wheel thingamajig.

I own some 170mms but I'm not particularly fond of them . I like the larger movement and leverage of the 175mms but the shorter ones are a lot quicker through ruts as the pedal digs in less .

Short legs here and so 170 is the norm. I do have a set of 165s though and love them for ease of turning the cranks.

175 for me
tho i do have bikes with 170's but like perry says prefer 175's (176 cooks)

never tried 180's tho

175 on all but one of my bikes and much prefer them, never seen any 180's for sale?

172.5 off road
170 or 165 on road for me. and 170 on my crosser.

the theory goes.....
longer cranks give more leverage at slow cadence (off road)
while shorter cranks allow for a higher cadence and less 'force' (on road)

I'm not convinced by the argument of shorter cranks are better through ruts as we are talking only 2cm between a 160 and a 180 crank

and in most cases we are talking 5mm or less  and we never take into account the V-factor of the pedals and cleats/shoes we are using.
As Public Enemy once said... "Don't believe the hype".
