What is so special with the Syncros seatpost?

and USE ?
400mm, many diameters with shim and… titanium in the very early 90 :D
Other alternative was american classic too, or IRD, the first fo using the double bolt clamp (1984)

I don't have bike with Syncros seatpost. The main reason : my legs are short so, I don't need so long seatpost

400mm of seat post crack avoidance on my Klein........bombproof in my experience, and with a hole to allow you to lock it to the bike in an era when no escort cosworth or expensive mtb owner slept or shopped soundly........

According to R. Moses, the Syncros was a shameless copy of his IRD design. The same thing they did with his fork when they could get one into their hands. He decided not to go to court because they were so big already and he could not produce more then he already did. He sold the 2-bolt-head patent to Kalloy in 1995.
