What can kill the looks of a bike for you?

Too much branding generally.
I'm sorry, but I don't see why I should ride a bike that's basically a free advert for the manufacturer, even if it is cool.

Flat pedals.

No-taste colour coordination.

Retro with modern components.

Red bikes.

Retrobikes with modern tyres.

Frames that are too big with seatposst sticking out a bit.

Slack chains.

Crudcatchers.

GT's (only messin)

Massive saddles.

Cheap frames with posh bits (single butted cheapo cromo frame with cooks & pauls bling) WHY???

Most suspension bikes.

Raked forks.

Think Im spent now.

Long seatposts.
Large/Small frames (17" is usually about perfect, and conveniently, my size)
Full Suspension, except for the GT STS style which I have a soft spot for.
Bling. Any coloured anodised parts just look pretentious and detract from a beautiful bike
slicks/small tyres. Something around 2.1" looks just right IMHO, but I appreciate the need for slicks and smaller tyres to suit conditions. This thread is about looks though, not practicality.
Kleins. Just don't like the look of them.
Some older frame designs with tall head tubes or LONG flat top tubes.

That's enough for now.

Yes, not killing the look cause it was never there to start with, but turd polishing is up there.

I agree with TSC to a certain extent. I had to ( note past tense ) buy gates or get aerospace mates to make me 550mm ti seatposts. However, that's until I discovered 29ers and I no longer look like this....

...any more. For giraffes like me 29ers

ROCK!! I've decked it out retro stylee with XT thumbies and a back-in-the-day drivetrain with RS3s. I love the Karate Monkey. Next year ( now I'm happy with it ) I'm getting a Sir Nine 29er.

By the way, my own pet hate is kn0b extension engineering. What's the point of going EXTREME when your passion's XC?

Bash guards? Learn to ride you clumsy twonk!

Oversized roadie handlebars? What mountain are you dropping off Lance?!

150mm forks? Find a nicer route you sh1te navigator!

Singlespeed. Especialy cool retro bikes converted to singlespeed

there, said it, feel much better now.
