What can kill the looks of a bike for you?

claps in agreement..... :D ps hoodie twxts on bmxs get my goat.....

lol

Hoodies are so 2000, shirts, 'fitted' jeans and sweatbands are where it's at for BMX fashion :D

I think odd coloured tyres can screw the look of a bike

As a guy over 13 stone, who has been known to wear lycra, and rides a bike much better than he is...

...I am SO glad my bar ends are at the right angle, I don't ride a Trek and I am not guilty of having frayed cables!

The only thing that ruins a bike for me is when I feel it is not loved. I see regularly a Kona FireMountain in Taunton that has obviously been someones main transport for 14 years plus.
It has mismatched tyres, odd bars, a torn saddle and some questionable acessories. BUT it is so much cooler than a garage queen that will never get dirty. That bike is LOVED!

thats a great way to look at it stick legs

ive seen plenty of old konas chained to railings outside train stations covered in that grey grime you get on rims when they are wet . you just know the owner bought it because it was good not because it was cool . a lesser bike would have fallen by the way side . they only upgrade due to necessity . forever in use serving its rider

Cheap frames with posh bits (single butted cheapo cromo frame with cooks & pauls bling) WHY???
Hate to say it, but I'm really with you on this when I think about it... yes, you with the Hahanna, put down the Graftons...

Agreed...the GT Outpost listed last year with full Deore XT for nearly 600? Kind of like putting a custom made jockey saddle on a jack a_ _!

Oooohhh hurtful comments, I can see why threads like these are not allowed on Retro Rides!

TBH its confirmed what I already know, you're a blummin fussy bunch, really very fussy, and I'm getting fussier in my older age. Honestly though a lot of that stuff doesn't matter but if were saying that it gets uglier in your eyes, furry chuff.

I've committed a few on the list over the years, but I am very much a bike snob these days, a realistic one. You'll be pleased to know that thanks to some chea n nasty cable outers I've gone for full XT cables on my MFox so no frayed cables on that ;) but then it does have a small amount of bling that peevs some people. Good,so long as you build these things as YOU want em, thats all that counts. :D

I always have bar ends at 'a comfortable and useful angle' though just yesterday a chap rode infont of me in Wakefield with vertical barends on an already tall bike, using em as some comfort postition, and then hopped up the big kerb using em! made me feel a bit poorly, how can you feel safe up there and so far from the brake levers, crazy!  :?
