HAHAHAHA poor Dr S trying to be clever again!!!
SO go on Dr S tell me the Clockwork Zaskar ect ect ect wasnt made in the masses, Doesnt that tell you something!!! my turn.... think about it..... if they dont sell they wouldnt be made, just shows that people want these mass produced bikes you are on about, iv had Clockworks Pace rc200 Kleins and a few more and ill tell you now, the Ragley IS a way better bike in all ways. FACT

You do know what website your on don't you :?:  I don't have an opinion on the Ragley as its something I'd never buy so I don't know anything about it ;) but posting it in a thread about nice steel hardtails in retro mtb chat you were always going to be swimming against the tide

All through this thread one thing has been popping into my head the whole time which really shows my age  watch it as in my experience Sesame street always knows best ;) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sm-zWDaoCtI

.... lost count of the number of times I have seen it pop up on here....do you work for them on some sort of viral marketing level or something?

:!: Children :!:

Don't make me knock your heads together!

You're beginning to look more than a little silly with this carry-on

Apparently the Ragley is a really nice bike to ride and certainly comes with a good design pedigree. However not really in keeping with the site is it?

Mind you give it a few years and I'm sure this place will be crawling with them and On-Ones. Perhaps it may even threaten the GT love in that is currently in place :D

I totaly understand what you mean its not retro, but all retro bikes were new at one time, its not me that has a problem with it it seems to be DR S, but hey ho thats just him. i think we have a fantastic collectiopn of lots of lovely steel hardtails on this topic now some i like some i dont but we all have our own thoughts on them, which is cool, some people just need to voice there opinion in a slightly nicer way

could someone clarify this argument over the ragley for me and define 'retro'

one interpretation of retro could be anything that isn't currently in production.

to me, (rightly or wrongly) retro is nothing to do with age, its a style thing. you could take a brand new frame, douse it in classic early 90's XTR parts, purple anodising, early 90's forks (instead of the tat they were likely to come with as a new bike) and to all intents and purposes it would be a retro bike.

likewise, to me, an early 90's 'classic' frame could be rebuilt on a modern groupset, new wheelset, new forks BUT still live under the retro banner because of its lineage.
