Weekend Faffing

Saturday - Had a few(?) drinks at home with my girlfriend in the evening, watched Gee Atherton's World Champs run on YouTube a few times!

Sunday - Got up late, had 'breakfast' then drove up to Haldon and rode round 'til knackered... now cooking dinner which is gonna rock!

Just managed a fair session on the TT, and whilst in the shed noticed I've accidently colour coded my LTS with its new Panaracer Mud Pro's  Result!

Relaced a wheel for the singlespeed with reverse dish to try and get the chainline right, even managed to do it without instructions for the first time!

Mustn't get cocky, it'll probably collapse first outing. Rebuilding with part-worn rims seems much trickier...

No faffing for me either I'm afraid !

Indian meal with some friends Friday evening, bass playing at our Saturday evening gig and then a four hour ride in some extremely wet hills (far wetter than in winter :( ) on Sunday with my mate Martyn (with his very tidy Orange Prestige).

For me it was a toss-up whether to ride the '06 RM Blizzard or the "Platsa Blue" Explosif Singlespeed. On this occasion, the Blizzard won.....

Results of tyre faffing has ended up with a nice looking LTS ready for the Peaks meet, and Magics that I'm not so sure about :? May end up getting another set of red band Fire XC Pro's for the RTS......although I have just picked up some amberwall Tioga Psyco's in 1.95 flavour

Tinkered with the idea of putting the Pace together as a single speed... gave it a bit of a polish instead.

De-stickered my clockwork (removed the shimano stickers that the previous owner had plastered it with) ...gave that a pollish too.

Took the Orange to the LBS to see if they could budge the seat tube... suspect they wont be able too and i'll have to use my tried and tested 9mm drill & garden fork method.

Pickle...you need to try something other than GT :p

On both counts; no!

Pace are too nice to do the SS thing, please get the SS idea out of your head

I have had many other bikes previously; Raleigh's, DB's, Specialized, Claud Butler......but then I got the RTS and got bitten by the GT bug. I think that the only time I'd wander away from them would be for a 'dream bike' like a Fat Chance, Merlin etc.

How could anything be "too nice" too use as a singlespeed ?? Nothing is cooler than a nice SS

Wash your mouth out with soap, man !!!

Spent an hour on Saturday night faffing with the Manitou Sherman forks for my big bike trying to see why the rebound adjuster was not working. Gave up and came to the conclusion that I must have blown the rebound assembly and it is completely fubared. Filled them new oil and greased them up which made a huge improvement on how they were... and made them good enough for Sunday's ride.

5+ hours and 5 Munro's including one of the most techy and desparate descents I've ever ridden. The forks held up although I had to ride around the over quick rebound which made the front end a tad unpredictable at times.

Grandparents had the boys and my wife was in Glasgow buying shoes and handbags... I had a great Birthday weekend :)
