"Watching" on ebay.

When I see something of interest on ebay I may start watching it even though I have no intention of buying it, just out of interest to see if it sells for the price asked and to get an idea of the market.

However, the flip side of this can be a bit confusing to follow.

As an example, I have a 98 Fire Mountain listed BIN £125 or best offers. It has been up for about a week and has 378 views and 34 watchers. It would appear that there is significant interest in the bike but not one offer has been made.

I guess everyone else is doing what I do.

Anyone else noticed this phenomenon?

EBay encourage sellers to send offers to watchers, so by watching, folk are expecting a discount. Works pretty well. That said, lots of people seem to idly watch things where there is best offer option, so much of it must be morbid curiosity or people seeing whether something similar to what they have sells.
