was John Tomac at Cwmcarn today?

spot on pics and great to see him over here again

iirc the frame was a spare built with most the bits he rode with over the early 90s.not being piccy but a true 91 had xt,xtr didnt come till 92 and should have manitous.again aint being picky at all, loved watching tomac on tv and at the grundigs and will never forget him rumbling past me near the bomb holes at newnham at around 100000000 mph :D

To those who know.
The frame used titanium lugs bonded to carbon tubes with a full titanium rear triangle from bike magic ..
Not actually correct iirc ... surely they are just Aluminium Tubes reinforced with a Carbon Fibre outer ?

Tomac Attack!

Amazing and a little odd to see one of the legends of the sports in Cwmcarn carpark...there's an interview with him up on Dirt TV.

Still comes across as super passionate about the sport.

That Tomac bike is lush...the big 'RetroBike' type debate about them is if the titanium parts are fabricated by Merlin Metal Works or not - you can i.d this by the drop-out style. Presumably it would be the 'real deal' if it was on of J.T.'s own race bikes?. Shame you couldn't get a pic of the man himself riding it?...still it's a really cool pic

those fork caps are 1995+ which means the legs and internals are as well also they are MAG21's and should be MAG20's in that era.
Also this Late 1992 is I assume what it's based around ?

So not all is period correct.

XTR was available in 1991 for consumers, so for test rides of high profile, chances are it was earlier than that.

didn't Rumpfy, Vitor, First Flight have a Tomac signature bike with Blue bits on ?
anyways if any of the owners wishes to enlighten then please do.

Is was never particularly a fan or bothered about Tomac so don't know too much about him. But don't mind learning a bit.

Course still a nice bike for anyone interested and seeing the man himself must be icing on the cake.

EDIT
A bit of google searching brings up two nice topics

Somebody on here?

I don't think Tomac is registered.

Sarcasm?

I was on about the bloke with his hands in his pocket.

I reckon Tomac actually spends time riding bikes, unlike 90% of Retrobike :)
