WARNING DONT BUY FROM NUMBER1BIKEBITS ON EBAY AKA DAVE HINDE

Not sure if this is the right forum for this post or if a mods going to get upset but I thought that it was my responsibility to let anyone who doesn't already know aware of just how angry this shop can make you!!! :evil:


I Bought some bits from number1bikebits on eBay and guess what? – They never arrived!

When I called them to ask for a tracking number they lied and made loads of stupid excuses including some of the following whoppers:

James from Dave Hinde/number1bikebits:
“FedEx’s didn't give us a tracking number”

FedEx’s response when I telephoned to check this:
“They haven’t sent anything to you”


Howard from Dave Hinde/number1bikebits:
“The systems been playing up and I can’t get tracking numbers”.
Me: “find the shipping receipt, look on the internet, phone FedEx”
Howard: “If you don’t want to believe me then that’s your choice”
This was followed by Howard hanging up the phone!

Me: “If you don’t give me a tracking number I’ll cancel the order and report you to eBay/PayPal”
James: “Good. That’s less work for me”

What a bunch of *****!

Don’t think leaving negative feedback on eBay will help either. If you look at the negative feedback on ebay here:

…you’ll find that they leave negative feedback for you because they’re a bunch of c*+_s!

I’m sure you all know this from the numerous posts on all the bike forums but I just want to let you all know that it is a really, really bad idea to buy anything from number1bikebits or Dave Hinde Cycles. If you’ve had bad experiences please post them here.

Its a shame - Dave Hinde was recommended in MBUK BITD for wheel building many times and I have a set from him built back in '94.

Really nice chap and superb wheels which are still true today.

But as for your experience I sympathise with you, that is simply unacceptable.

:shock: :shock: :shock: dont think i ever seen a straight run of negative feedback like that on the bay not being funny though when i ask this, but didnt you check or take the negatives into account before buying

I think I can speak for a lot of people who use ebay that when you see a power seller with 13000 + feedback you just presume they are reputable and will deliver.
If only I had typed "number1bikebits" into google first! Go on, it's a laugh, give it a go!

That's a list of their negative feedbacks - it ain't a straight run by a long way! Still totally cr@p service though - I hate people like that!

Thats not a solid run of bad feedback, the view is filtered to show bad feeback only, a little misleading..

BUT I have to agree, terrible service! this is what happens when ebay sellars get too big and they can't handle the capacity of sales that they are generating. :roll: I bought from them a few years ago and got great service, looks like things have gone down hill since then.. :?

Fair play in all honesty i probably would have bought anyhow, simply for the fact that has been said already that BITD Dave Hinde's cycle shop had a good name think i had some bits mail order from in the early 90's

their "dave hinde" bikes are crap too!

I've had trouble from them too. They're nasty to deal with. Liars and cheats. Never gonna buy from them again.
