WANTED: Someone with a lathe!

They look good.
I have a Matsuura, yet to be used as I am fitting modern electrics.
Never having even seen a cnc machine apart from the 3.8 tons of iron
in the corner of my garage I have no idea how you go about parts like those?
Any chance you could take some pics while machining a part, one of the yokes would be ideal?

Loving the yokes How many axis were they made on? the fat things looks very similar to some of our assessments although not as cool

Thanks very much, it fits perfect :)

Back on topic.

You'd have to be nuts to consider making a steerer from solid. Buy pipe, skim as and where required!
Kinda what I thought I was considering the bulge at the bottom I'm sure that's put there under pressure rather than machined and I would be worried about the strength, steerers are cromo right?

LOL a lot of steerers are made of lots of things, notably Aluminium which is not the strongest metal on the planet. The grain structure would be better if made from a decent grade of pipe than if made from a solid bar.

just heat treat it before finish machining if your concerned about that
6061 T6 or similar is fine

Jeez... ive heard the one about Too Many Cooks, but is there one about Too Many Engineers?

Maybe you should all CNC or lathe up some buns or handbags

the yoke is for a set of MC suspenders forks ,the proper ones on the right
its cracked

done on a 3 axis bridgeport interact with a bit of clever programming

the fat badges were done on a home made 3 axis gantry router that i built a few years ago

i qute often make steerers from solid
from alloy
or steel
you have to remember that a bicycle is a simple machine
so most parts are easy made

its all easy if you know how

How much to make me a steerer for my Z2 'zocchi's :?: steel or ally, not bothered which :)

I can't remember who made this for me now!
I need something else making up.
It's an aheadset spacer but much thicker.
Anyone interested?
