We've had a few krampi(?) through our hands. Quite popular, more GP i suppose.
See you sat🤞let's talk bikes😀

Ps nice tree, looks like an ash but unusually large if so

Hi
Sorry I’ve not been in touch. I’m going to pass on the Ogre, I’ve had a few and the later version isn’t what I’m after.
I’m still looking for a small frame, Troll, 1x1, Karate Monkey and possibly an earlier Ogre, the cosmetics don’t have to be perfect, I like the lived on look.
I’m still interested in selling / swapping my medium Krampus frame and possibly the same for my Wednesday (complete, SS, small)…
Cheers

Hi, I've only come across this post today. Did you manage to find a small surly frame?

I have a 2011 small Troll in orange. It was my all year commuter bike a few years ago and whilst being a bit scruffy looking is structurally in good condition. The only issue that it has concerns the rim brake pivots. The threads on the pivots are the wrong pitch. Surly uses a different pitch from all other manufacturers! This has resulted in the pivots not fitting nicely. I only realised this when I first built up the bike after buying from the previous owner. I tried to use v-brakes and they didn't rotate smoothly. I ended up using disc brakes after sourcing a Surly Ogre/Troll rear break adaptor.
The frame has been sprayed on the inside with either GT85 or motorcycle chain lube to prevent rust. As I said this was my year round commuter bike.

If you are interested I can "dig" it out from the back of my spare room and take pictures for you. Currently I don't have a headset fitted to this frame and forks, but I do have the Surly rear disc adaptor and a seat clamp.

I'm up in Scotland but I have a box and packaging to be able to post to you. I've not thought about a price as I wanted to see if you'd found a frame first before tidying up my spare room to get my hands on it.

Cheers, J.

Hi J,
I swapped one of my frames for a Krampus but it wasn’t really what I was after. A scruffy Troll frameset would be of interest. If you can have a think about price and message me I’d be grateful…

Hi,
Sorry not able to PM yet, so here's a few pics for you. TBH the frame is in better condition than I remembered. I do have the Surly rear disc adaptor and I'm sure that I can find a Surly seat collar too. It's not being used and most probably never will as I'm more of a fan of larger diameter wheels. I'd be happy to let it go for £200 if you also cover the cost of postage. I'm very sure that I have boxes large enough to safely post this. J.

It looks good.
That should be fine. Can I just clarify what you mean about the brake pivots. Are the canti studs fitted OK or have the threads in the frame and forks been damaged?
I have lots of 29 wheels, rims, tyres, etc if you need anything and possibly a spare Krampus frameset…

Hi, When I bought the frame and forks I'd planned on using V-brakes. It made fitting mudguards and rack easier. But when the V-brakes were installed I noticed that they'd not pivot freely once the pivot bolt was tight. A bit of investigation found that the pivots were the wrong pitch and forced into the frame. I contacted the guy I bought it from and he confirmed this, but added if the V-brakes were used along with a brake booster they would pivot and operate as intended. As the wheels that I'd planned to use had both disc hubs and rim brake rims, I fitted disc brakes, which on hindsight were a better option for winter commuting.
I've never investigated the brake bosses on the frame any further, but I'd imagine that the threads may be damaged. I will supply the Surly Ogre/Troll rear brake adaptor with the frame. If you wanted to fit V-brakes or cantilever brakes to your single speed bike I also have a small Karate Monkey frame which I could maybe be tempted to part with.

With regard to your 29er parts, what rims and tyres do you have? I've already got a Krampus frame that I'll be building up and looking for parts to use 29+ tyres.

I tend to use V or Canti brakes so unfortunately I don’t think the Troll would work for me. I would be interested in hearing more about the Karate Monkey frame. Frame or frameset? Roughly what year? How much would you be after for it? I’ve had a “few” and I do have some Rabbit Hole rimmed wheels plus a built up Dually rimmed front wheel and matching rim I was planning to get built up fixed gear. I’ll hang onto the Rabbit Holed wheels but if the others are of interest I’ll dig them out and do pics. I think I also have a pair of Knard tyres in the attic, again if you’re interested please let me know.
