Hi,

I'm looking for a hard tail mountain bike, I've got up to £200 to spend. Would prefer a better quality but older (i.e. more trashed), not totally trashed though obviously...

Ideally I'd like it to get me through the summer, then need a bit of work next winter to get it running well (seriving, tranmission, bearing & suchlike). I want something that I can improve over the years.

Hello mate, that about sums it up I guess. Yeah, the frame size would have been useful, 20/21 inch. I've been told to look for a long travel frame with bomber forks. The rest of the parts I'm not fussed about, as long as I'll be able to put a disc brake on the front wheel at some point.

Cheers, Shaun

Right then me old cocker I've got a 19" Cannondale F frame very clean Dark metallic green with gold lettering and a New gold reducer headset being an F you can use as longer travel fork as you like and as It'll be fitted with a reducer headset you can use any 1 1/8 fork and other than the fork I've got all the parts to build it into a bike for that budget.

The parts will be clean or NOS STX/LX mavic rims skin walled kevlar tyres (if you want them) and as I'll be building it we can do it how ever you like.

The picture shows it sitting on Fatty fork but it's just to give you an idea of how it'll sit.

Staf.

Hi Staf,

Couldn't make a huge amount of sense of that, you're talking to a layman here. Could you just clarify, you can build the bike for 200 without the forks or with the forks?

Cheers, Shaun
