Vintage eBay identification

This bike popped up on eBay a few days ago. There’s hardly any information, I think the frame has been re sprayed and the stickers aren’t original. But the frame has some really interesting detailing around the head tube and seat post mount.

Has anyone seen anything like this before and able to provide more history on the frame/bike?

I would hazard a guess at a Carlton

Raleigh Carlton, with Raleigh head and bottom bracket 26 threads per inch. Raleigh got the production up to 50,000 a year.
Well made low end frame which had to conform to legal requirements of the time, so small frames had to be built with long top tubes.

This looks like a Carlton Corsa,1969/70 ish.I have a frame with identical details which is a Carlton and reviewing catalogues from 69/70 dates it to around that time.

Raleigh, Carlton, BSA, Sun - could be any one of them. All made in the same factory to the same frame design.

Ah, I thought I was getting somewhere there, it does look just like a Carlton frame but it seems it’s not that simple!

Bought it anyway because I liked the look of it! I’ll get some photos up once I’ve got it home, and do some looking around for frame numbers and details on parts

Got the bike home and starting to find out a bit more about it. Frame number (on the left rear drop out) is a 6 digit number. Bars are SR Sakae Custom, brakes are Weinmann 999, both of which look original? The drive chain I’m less sure about. Raleigh Custom Custom cranks, SR SP-100 pedals, DNP Epoch-3 derailleur. Not sure that they are original.

I’m still thinking Carlon Corsa because of the frame detailing? Probably not the Reynolds tubing based on the seat stay?

Can anyone offer any good links, ideally a catalogue so I can work out what’s original, what to keep, and ultimately what to do with her?

Looks like a nice bike, I like them just for the wraparound seat stay if nothing else, although am yet to acquire one for the collection.

Crespera lugs so 1967 to 1974. It has no Raleigh style number so 1972 or before.

Horizontal holes for a head badge which is Carlton. Made of Tru-Wel tubing. Any sign of chrome on the ends of the forks?
