vintage cyclocross frames...

i am thinking about building up a single speed cross bike and was wondering whether anyone can tell me about retro cross brands that used to build quality cross frames. do they still come up for sale once in a while or do you know where to look for?

I used to own a very good Edison (based in Derbyshire and still in business) steel 'cross frame that was built in the mid-80s, whilst this is a great example from sought-after East London builder H. R. Morris;

Can't go wrong with an Alan

just saw a few alans on ebay. not cheap though. you know anywhere else to find those frames. they seem to be the ones...

You're not allowed to build an Alan until mine's finished....

not sure i can guarantuee that but can't imagine there are people taking more time to build bikes than me. so you are pretty safe right now.

As already said Alans are really nice old cross bikes. Won loads of world titles too, but this is reflected in their used price. Also it's a tough time to look for a cross bike as the season is just underway and therefore much sought after. If you can hold on wait until spring when the racing season ends and pick up a bargain
