Introduced this little gem in the classic road section.

Had a few replies so thought it might be a good introduction project for me to learn the basics.

Heres the old girl in question.

Most of it is there.....even have some nos ribbed cables, torpedo grips , block pedals and brake levers.
My plan is to just clean up what i can and just recommision it.
Not sure about paint yet, that'll come later.

Started going through the parts and cleaning them up the last couple of evenings....:)

The metalwork's coming up a treat.
I wonder how many 2015 bikes will have survived as well 50 years from now?

I remember these. A lot of the slightly older kids had them when my generation were going around on Choppers.

Got an interesting update today...

After looking at "boscarn" fabulous sun wisp i thought I'd try and invert the bars early racer style in thoughts of a mini tribute.

So i start rumaging through the parts boxes that i got given and came across these.

Stamped on top as 'Lytaloy' are these actually the 'hobbs' articles??
I will search through the box further as a few headsets and brake calipers, maybe some interesting parts in there.

Started cleaning the paint work today.......started with the easy stuff.

Now this is where i need your guys advice....:)
What to do next with the frame.
I think a clear coat on top would be the best bet but how do i prep the frame.
Presume i need to address the bare steel somehow (wire wool, tin foil, fine w&d ??) and clean off fossilised road grime from the stays.
Once clean do i put a rust inhibitor on the bare spots?

Any chemicals or methods for this greatly appreciated.
Presume the areas are too large for a touch up paint.

Finally i can get vindec decals still, is there anyway to age new decals so they dont look out of place.

Thanks for your time

Decided to leave the paint as is for the time being.
Its that dilema between restoration or preservation.
After looking into boiled linseed oil and such like ordered some jade oil so I'll give that a whirl when it turns up.

New seat and post plus new rear wheel to match front with 16t & 18t sprocket ordered.

Just tyres and tubes left now, probably just some amber wall tyres. Although they do quite a few different tyres in this size 24 x 1 3/8 as wheel chair size.

Re:

These bikes for 'small people' are often unregarded, so well done you for taking care of this one: )
