Video cam whilst cycling.

Any good (or bad) recommendations for a video camera to record rides and especially poor driving? I probably have at least one, if not more, incident on every longer ride. Today was a close drive by ( I swear less than 6” from me!) caught up at the next junction to remonstrate, driver lowers window enough to tell me to “ f##k off! I should have knocked you off”. I’d love to be able to forward footage to the local Police.

I know nothing about GoPro type cameras but I used to get wound up and eventually learned to let it go, that dude will tell it to the wrong person one day and regret it.

Agreed. I would get angry in my younger days and try to get everywhere as fast as possible. If Strava had been around back then, I'd have been all over it. Then I started cycling in London, and after a few close calls in the first year - I resolved to change my riding approach. On one occasion, I had a driver actually smash their wing mirror into my handlebars when I was stationary at a turn right junction when the traffic lights were on red so desperate were they to get ahead of me. I was completely in the right - not it would have helped if they'd been going faster and come a little closer.

I became a very chilled out, but defensive rider who was extremely generous to other road users. It never cost me more than 5 minutes per hour of riding. I am willing to leave the house 5 minutes earlier for a better, safer, nicer experience.

I cycled every day in London for 2 hours for eight years, and I probably saw an incident around 2-3 times a year. Sometimes it was the cyclist at fault, sometimes the driver.

1m 30 into this clip may help resolve your faith in humanity.

I understand the sentiments being shared here but as an american living in car hell, break windows.
Get a gopro, theyre just generally worth the cost. I had a hero 12 black for a while and it got great video, the wider angle views and the stabilization are fantastic to have.
If you set them down to 1080p you get absurdly long record times and battery life. Better than what most dash cams would offer.

I have the Hero mini and the cam stabilizer is quite good, very nice videos in 5k and it is smaller than curren go pro but has no display and weights a bit more than spected. Nice cam.
that can be cheap and has GPS is the Sony ASV 200, it records in UHD, close to 2K, nice quality videos. The format of the cam is a bit worse than a Go pro but has GPS and can be seen the track in the video.

I would avoid getting into a confrontation. Saying that I did the other day, but I came off so was pretty annoyed. Generally it's not worth it.
