Cambridge, where I live - fella in his 60's goes past before I could get a photo - a 90's hybrid frame, 700C rear wheel as it should have, but WTF was going on with the front end?! Some sort of Rock Shox with a 26" front wheel. Both shod in slim slick tyres. The top-tube wasn't sloping downwards even with the 26" front wheel - I guess the chap wanted decent front suspension, but a bigger, more comfortable frame with 700C (rear) wheel was what he wanted too. Looked odd - looked like it could work - genius?!
I've put 700C wheels on my Saracen E-stay frame with 700C forks, but has anyone done similar to he guy I saw today?!
