Building a straight bar single speed bike, changing the drops to Ritchey Straight bars and wanted to fit some STX RC levers.

Can I use STX RC (BL-MC40) levers with Ultegra 6500 brakes. The levers have the H/Low adjustment on the levers so I assume the answers yes :?

Re:

I used to think the same thing, but read somewhere that it would not maximize your braking power. You would be better off buying new Tiagra flat bar brake levers, tektro cross levers or something similar. Or finding some previous generation levers for cantis would work fine as well.

I'm happy to be corrected if wrong.

As above, those levers are for v-brakes. The adjustment is to back off the snatchyness that was associated with the first generation v-brakes all those years ago.

look for a normal set of flat bar or standard canti brake levers

Thanks chaps

In that case I may just keep the Cinelli drop bars after all   :)

Re:

There a loads of very nice retro canti brake levers you Could use, from basic all the way up to boutique cnc machined.
And modern flat bar levers can he pretty nice too, see for example the ones from Brick Lane Bikes .

Also check the diameter of the bar you're using , and that mtb brake levers will fit.

Those Tiagra flat bar levers already mentioned can be used for both canti/road brakes and V-brakes. Prices are around 15€ here in Germany
