Just bought a tatty old colnago mtb frame that requires a u brake for the under rear chainstay fitment. Not sure if I need one for the front too?! Let me know what .....if anything you have. It doesn't need to be perfect but it needs to be complete ( not bothered about brake blocks though)
Be gentle with me .....I know naff all about mtb's and the dark arts.

Hi mate what Colnago model is it as that will help with members identyfing wether it requires a u brake for the front as not all bikes with rear u brake's had one fitted to the fork as i have a 88 Muddy Fox Courier that has canti's fitted as standard to the forks as well as an 89 Kona Fire Mountain which is the same set up again and far as i know of the most well known mtb's for double u brake's were the 88-89 Saracen's ..

Re:

Hi it's a colnago ibex fantastic! I cannot find anything about them to be honest so any info would be great.

Is your bike anything like these by any chance ;
So yours is like this one then ;) ..

both these bikes are 1988 models which is when most mtbs had under stay u brakes ..

..

Re:

It's similar to the top one with the extended seat tube but it is not a master-I think that one is. It has the straight forks but round tubing on the top tube and not the crimped type

Re:

Nice! I have an exage u brake with matching canti's but looks like you'll be needing something a bit higher up the spec list!

Yes the top one is suppose to be an Ibex and as for the Master well i threw that in just for comparison unfortunately their is nothing regarding your particular model in the Retro Bike archives but i'll have a nosey round the web and see if i can route some info out ..
