TV licence

The rule with the tv licence is that you need one at the time of initial broadcast. For example you can't watch eastenders at it's normal time in the conventional manner without a licence .... You can however watch it on the iplayer without a licence.

If you havn't had a licence for years then I suspect your already aware of the tv people

As to the tv as a pc screen...the tv shop was talking cobblers and it's perfectly okay to do so

You know they are obliged to ask for an address so either give them yours or as suggested get a friend with a licence to buy it for you

I'm sure you are as you will have checked at some point, but are you certain on that...?

My understanding was a licence was needed even if you simply had an internet connection, as the possibility then exists to watch re-runs. My memory is hazy and I am thinking around 10 years ago or so, and it might be things have changed now...?

I'm in university an we dont have a TV licence as we dont watch live tv. But we all have televisions but they just get used for xbox or as a PC monitor. an your covered legally so long as you dont watch live tv

Kalum you'll find that as its a temporary accommodation (same as a caravan) your permanent address (parents house) licence should cover you.

Unfortunately, even in halls that rule doesn't count as each room has a separate address. But this year we're renting a house because it works out cheaper. But it doesn't matter to me as I only use TV Catchup services

The shops say its to do with the pixels a tv gives off ??? :?:

What the hell are they blathering about? :) Generally the pixels stay put...

If you don't have an aerial then the TV's not capable of picking up broadcasts, no license required.
