Tubed V Tubeless

I run tubeless but find low pressures feel very squirmy and prone to rim/bead burping when pushed... coming fast down a rocky Malverns descent it's not confidence inspiring.

In fact only last week coming down the side of Gullet, half the air escaped due to some unavoidable rock contact ... I thought it was another major tear in the sidewall, panicked, grabbed some (too much) brake and enjoyed a very nice 'OTB's landing on my brand new lid and also receiving some flagellation from the many saplings on the way down ... at the bottom, the tyre was not flat, or punctured... just burped half its contents.

I run 25 ish and have no noticeable/annoying squirming or burping. Including "pressing on", off road.

I don't run below 30-35 ... its just not a nice feeling ride.

Wow, they're some high pressures. What tyres?

I'm 23/26 on my hardtail with no issues. I've only had issues with burping when I went as low as 20.

"Wow, they're some high pressures. What tyres?" No its not its you who's low.

I've just grabbed the first tyre that came to hand a Schwalbe Nobby Nic, tubeless ready folder (recommended PSI 35 - 55)

If you are insisting on following manufacturers recommended pressures, stick with tubes.

I've not run a tubeless above 35psi yet.......

No, I look at the manufacturers figures as a guide only. The amount of R&D that the manufacturers put into tyre development, you'd have thought they'd know best.
