Retro Newbie
Hi I'm new here, I live in Salisbury and have a triumph tempest racer in gold, it's not compleat.
I'm trying to decifer the frame number and wondered if someone could help age it.
I think the n part is for Nottingham but not sure on rest.
I think this is all I can find by saddle
NH3013739
There is also a s stamped on the bottom of the crank as well I know nothing about.

Do you know why it has gold brake leavers.
And do you think the bike is worth anything as I want to do it up.
Some brake levers were annodised gold, its possible they are not original. The bike isn't worth much as it's low end. Spend the minimum, Tyres, tubes, Cables, brake blocks and get some use out of it. A thorough stripdown, clean, regrease and polish and it will be fine.
You will need a front brake, try a wanted ad here. Take the lamp bracket out of the handlebar stem, it could be straining the stem or stopping it clamping the bars. Either way take it out.

I am not familiar with serial number convention so if designates it as being from 1983 I cannot refute that, but it certainly looks more like a mid '70s bike. Components could possibly confirm year if they are original.

The cost of decent tires can be more the the bike's value so as previously stated just do the basics to get it road worthy and safe.
