So, a wee update... had a chance to mock-up some of the tasty purple nurple going on this build. Sorry that the pics aren't of a higher quality, but tis the iphone... the camera seems to pick up wavelengths not really visible to the naked human eye, because in real life these 3DV parts are all actually the same shade of purple... interesting how things appear darker/lighter in photos.

I know it's not subtle... but hey, nothing about this frame, fork, etc are! (and you know I love a little bling-bling... ok, a LOT). I'm going for a bit of an industrial look on this one. Surprisingly light so far...

Can't bear to chop up that purple USE post, so I'm going to cut a cheap purple kalloy uno that I have. Most parts, with the exception of the USE bits, the rear derailleur, and the frame of course are NOS.

What kind of tires do you all think would be appropriate?

For some reason I think Specialized Fatboys as the look just screams fast road use.

For offroad some 1.7'' Ritcheys would look ace.

...no offense taken, mate! Purple hopes would be nice... but alas, they are not in my stash of goodies at present, nor could I afford to indulge in more tasty expensive wheels at the moment I also think that if not on this particular one, I'll never find a more appropriate frame to put those tecnos on.

As for tires - black? Gumwalls? Amber? What color treads? Think some gum coloured panaracers might be interesting... but perhaps too random, the light colored tires?

This Trek needs Ritchey Z-Max WCS tyres in red.
Ritchey must be colorblind. When i look at them i see clearly some purple tyres.

Somewhere in this forum i saw a wonderful purple Pace bike with these tyres, too. A perfect match.
