Note the green under the black paint... But I don't think this bike ever came in green. Another interesting fact is the paint over the head tube badge.
Seem to think @Peachy found the same on one he repainted.Maybe the simple construction of the main frame made them a good candidate for an unskilled painter to have a go at? (Not Peachy!) Much easier than spraying a 'regular' style frame.Certainly not the best finish on it currently, not original. With that much orange peel you'll probably hear the bike as you ride it,maybe even create a few 'dust devils'
And painting over the headbadge is a bit of a lazy shortcut, don't know if those ones can be removed undamaged but the paint could be removed and the badge repainted I guess.Or get a vinyl replacement.
They've painted over the cable stops too, possibly the headset?
Will probably shed a bit of weight stripping the paint! Hopefully it is just paint and it's not covering a filler repair.Worth checking.
Rubbing down multiple layers of paint does create some cool patterns though!Trek Marble Special Edition??
