Thanks all -a great story from you all. Sadly Alpine Bikes on Holburn are now closed. I went to look in just the other week to buy some parts - I was most surprised to find it gone - I had to go to Evans on Union Street....

Alpine bikes / Tiso are still very much running just chose to close the bike retail outlet in Aberdeen. Tiso still has a retail outlet near George St but not dealing with the bikes. Inverness, Glasgow and Edinburgh are the main venues now it seems.

Well that’s all the non retro gubbins removed… apart from zoom stem. The bike feels slot lighter non

Also - I've noticed that Holburn Cycling (nothing to do with Alpine) further down the road (nextish to Gillies) has also closed and it is empty. Not many Bike shops left in Aberdeen (Halfords / Evans / Edinburgh) only??? A good job that there's still experts in Banchory and Ballater.....

Just found this on eBay....an early 90's Matrix stem as was found on those lovely Trek bikes.
It's in Germany, but not too expensive, would be a good match for the bike.
