Those rack stays break off easily, a few years, a bit of luggage... at least yours didn't take a section of the stay with them - plenty do. And repair ruins the paint

And only 80 years of use, they just don’t make things to last anymore, just wait until I find the warranty…

Well, you have a point. I do have a set, on another lovely set of hubs I’ve yet to build up… but mine are the ‘oil-can’ type. The ones in your picture are really rather nice…

Well, that is a pleasure to ride.

Decided to run without mudguards for the moment, swapped out the waaaaaaaaaay too long stem to a GB short, took off the toeclips and straps for the test ride, needs a few things adjusted but nothing drastic.

Did a short loop up some hills into Stoke Row, turns out 46/28 (lowest of the three-cog-block) gearing is ok… but the real test will be seeing if I can labour up something more challenging.
Braking is, well, grabby best captures it
Might have to fore go the red blocks for something that isn’t terrifying on the descents lol.
