It should have rained all day, but didn't rain one drop

Yay it's the weekend! After seeing the football team I coach play well, but end up losing, on a really sunny morning, I decided, after fitting the wrong-size rotors to a bike I am restoring, to go for a ride instead... glad I did, but I had underestimated the coldness of the wind, so had to keep riding to stay warm . Rode down the Thames path from Hampton Court to Kingston and then back through Bushy Park.

The best posts here have pics which do more than words can to give a real sense of the ride -- but today, there was no stopping for pics. It was drizzling on and off with a strong gusty wind; when the curtains of drizzle parted, there would be bright sunshine for 10 minutes or so before the next squall. Took the Kona Jake on a mainly-tarmac ride, out and back from town, with a shortish hill on gravel. The latter was slushy, greasy and a bit hazardous. Coming home the gusts were getting stronger, causing me to swerve on occasion. Arrived home in the unlikely state of being soaked with a spot of sunburn as well. Crazy.

Where is that? Not in UK judging by buildings outside. Troyes?

Sunday morning and the first BST ride of 2025. 11 degrees, felt like 7 then warmed up a touch. Super misty, almost thick fog in the hills but clear as a whistle down by the sea. 11-12mph firm NW breeze, gusts of 20+.

A tale of 2 sides of the hills, one in thick mist, one in glorious sunshine. Smiles for miles thanks to almost perfect riding conditions. Firm, enough stick, not slippy with only a few muddy sections, one of which I got thorough plastered.

The ride today over the back roads around Winchester started well with a hawk hovering motionless above the road. And got better from there, what I day to be alive and out on your bike!
