Very cool Holloway. You’ve got to love an ancient trail. natural England were meant to be mapping a load of holloways a few years ago, but I can’t find any results.
After 3 months of turbo trainer, it was time this morning to head out on the black stuff. Chilly 4 degrees, lower in the dips and nooks, rising to 6 with the yellow blob. Hazy blue skies, very gentle 4mph ENE breeze.
Absolutely epic. The legs felt great, defo more juice in them. Roll on spring and summer please.
Refreshed Simone is running better than ever. Just the crappy FSA headset to replace and she'll be done.
Proper lunchtime spin today in the sunshine, although my feet were still numb by the end
First was a warm-up blast over Nailsea causeway followed by a very tricky ascent up Old Lane. The track has been battered over winter so lots of bank erosion & churned mud from the horses. Which has now frozen in to all kinds of weird ruts to get through
Next it was on to Cadbury camp lane to look at all the expensive houses & up to the Iron age fort followed by a very quick decent
Felt good to do a more challenging ride today as some bits of old lane are pretty steep & technical
I did manage to bash the front derailleur somewhere (assuming old lane - there's boulders & roots sticking up everywhere) but nothing a bit of roadside tinkering couldn't fix. I'll need to sort the indexing again at some point which is a pain in the ass
I needed a new gear cable so I took a spin on my Raleigh Sprite down to my local bike shop and stopped off for a photo at an overlook which was rather nice, I think I need to buy more gear cables.
