Today's Ride

a very speedy twitchy few miles to get some shopping today; had been speaking back and forth with @bikeworkshop regarding gearing options for my Inbred. Had wanted to change to a 2x setup with similar gearing as road, started eyeing up some Sora 50/34 stuff till I realised there's basically no (readily available) top pull road derailleurs, and the only other option would be finding some of the top pull CX FD's which seemed like a needle in a haystack. Then stumbled across Cues which after looking into it could do 46/30 which I'd be happy with, was still tallying up options when I had the realization that 95% of my riding is either cycle paths, roads or general tarmac with the remainder being the occasional dirt path or unpaved patch. Seemed a bit fruitless trying to emulate road bike gearing/generally wanting to go quicker on a frame that was never designed for it (not to discredit the inbred in any way), one thing lead to another and

Bought used as frankly I don't have new Bianchi money, came with some Look Keo 2's but I have no SPD shoes currently hence the platforms but holy shit it feels like a rocket. Drops and the shifters are gonna take a hot minute to get used to but that might have been the quickest few miles of my life 😂

Proper bike does the proper job👍
the inbred will be happier doing the harder work on rougher ground.

Check the bianchi has not got one of the snappy ultegra chainsets.

Staying closer to home today having not got out for a couple of weeks. Not ridden around Rutland Water for years which is daft as it’s a nice ride and an easy ride from home.

Amazing to think the house in the distance in this photo which has fantastic views over all of Rutland Water was built over 250 years before Rutland Water was there!

Didn’t seem too muddy while riding round but was filthy by the time I got back.
