After strong winds and a lot of rain during the week, there was some brighter weather this weekend, so I made the most of it. Still pretty breezy in built-up areas, over the farm land strong gusts whipped across the fields and made the first dozen miles or so of yesterday afternoon's ride a bit of a slog. But the wind was at my back along the seafront and, later on, the woods provided some calm.

Today's ride was a quick, early evening riverside blast at the end of a lovely spring day. It was mild enough for shorts even at 7.00 pm.

My stepson's ParkPre Mountain Comp pub cruiser has been languishing in the garage for some time as I haven't had the opportunity to deliver it to him in Melbourne. Today on a whim I took it out for a test ride -- really just to find out how the big, fat Maxxis Hookworm tyres perform.

The frame is quite heavy -- plain gauge Cromo I think -- but those balloon tyres provide a lot of shock absorption and grip just fine on dry gravel. With low gears and wide Surly Sunrise bars, it's quite a nice mount for a sunny cruise. I hope the boy likes it when he eventually gets his hands on it.

3 back to back days of saddle action thanks to not much wind and generally favourable conditions.

Saturday was a bit sloppy on top of the moors but really quiet and if you squinted hard enough "warm"...in reality it was about 7-8 degrees with a slight chill in the air, but with elevation comes internal heat. I managed to almost ruin my nice new (Jake) Snake long sleeved top 🤣 I did get to Botallack mine cafe just before closing time which was a result.

Yesterday was a really quiet loop down to Newlyn, Mousehole (best time to be there is early morning before anyone wakes up), Paul through Drift to Sancreed. It was cooler than predicted, with a dense cloud around Sancreed, but again, elevation means warmth!

This morning, well, very low cloud in spots, dense fog in places, then clear as a bell a few metres up the road. Between 3 and 9 degrees, it was pretty wild 🤣 Very gentle easterly breeze, and where it was clear, lovely golden sunshine. I felt like I was skirting in and out of Bespin without Billy Dee Williams.
