Today's Ride

Nice and cool day today

Perfect day for riding, with just a few spots of rain as i was heading back. Set off on a loop which changed as i went depending on mood. Wasnt feeling super fit as had a long day yesterday but heading where i wanted instead of forcing myself around a certain route made the ride a lot more enjoyable.

Ended up at Hardwick lakes again as i just kept heading down, stopped at a favourite bench on way back up, third pic, with the busy M1 in the distance and big views. On the way back i went a slightly longer route which for some reason is more downhill than the short one and has some great little sections.

Great little ride

Re:

Managed to get out again despite decorating duties. Ventured a little further along the coast. Lovely narrow death defying path.

Steep (walk) so good practice for mayhem.

Cliff was interesting at this point. Look behind the bike and see if you can read it. A brave gesture of love.....

Re:

I bought this Pace RC200 F5 in Feb 2016 to use as a road bike for days like this when the suns out, birds are singing and I want a solo ride round the lanes of Yorkshire.
I had a quick hours ride taking in Harewood Bridge and Otley utter bliss!

Re:

With the current warm weather, it came as a shock this morning to see that the ground temperature here in West Berkshire had dropped below freezing during the night  . For reasons that are a bit tiresome to explain, I feel the cold more than the majority of riders do – and it’s not merely down to my ultra-low Tog Rating. With both those things in mind, I set off early today with more layers than some of you may think is appropriate  .

This this the far West end of Thatcham Reed Beds, which obviously look better from a higher vantage point. During the Summer months, you’ll see Hobbies catching Dragonflies overhead – but it’s not advisable to watch this while you’re cycling  .

This is the junction of the River Lambourn where it finishes its journey from the Lambourn Downs and flows into the Kennet and Avon Canal.

The former Greenham Common Air Base is obviously a vast flat area on account of it once being a massive runway – one of the longest Military runways in the world. Around the perimeter however there are plenty of more challenging fast trails, which I have attempted to show here.

Warm today.

Havent been out for a bit due to an injury but managed a short ride over to Hardwick, reversed a section of one of my loops, nice change of views.

Good ride and the sun came out too

Warm today, hot when the sun came out.

Went for an easy ride today, a short route as i was dog sitting. Usually takes under 2hrs, took me nearly 3 today for some reason  Great day for riding though and once out i wish i had more time, especially when the sun came out by the lakes as it was the sort of day to sit and relax a bit. Ther berms are part of a trail long forgoten, great though short bit of track.

Great ride

Re:

Well Summer has well and truly returned today….. (after my dress rehearsal for Winter on Sunday  ). The temperature just nudged above 20 C here in West Berkshire. I did wear shorts today, but I didn’t manage to take any pictures to prove it  .

I did a loop today for a change, starting off with a blip up to Crookham Common, then back down and along the Kennet Valley for a while and up the other side to the North. I decided to take the Score out – the last time I was on it was 2017, before my little episode.

This is the track that takes me back down from Crookham toward the Kennet and Avon Canal.

Then a climb up the other side of the valley to Cold Ash.

Looking due South towards Kingsclere and the Hannington mast, which I can’t actually make out in this shot :) .

Sorry random question
I’ve got a old Kilauea similar to that - do the decals on a Score literally glow in the dark ?

Mark
That track looks especially inviting and the tree line route intriguing, I just want to ride it to see where it goes!

Yes they do glow in the dark. I believe that all of the 2000 range have them. The Score Decals are just stuck on top of the titanium tubing, but I also have a 2000 Explosif and Kula, which are both under the lacquer, and they still glow in the dark, but not as well..... and it's Pip by the way ;) .
