Today-Thursday-The Bay Area air conditioner-AKA fog-kicked in and dropped out temps down into the mid 60's F.-nice, it makes climbing easier. Today a climb to the West of town about 900' up. Gary Fisher stopped by on his road bike this morning-a Trek Emonde. It has electric shifters and is incredibly light, just 13.5 lb. !

Beautiful pastoral scene, THM. Today-Sunday-We rode up into the Water District to check out the damage Winter did to the Concrete Pipe fire road. We found plenty of action along the way. Nice out, about 74 F. and sunny...

35ish mph on nice gravel descent then pop! valve torn out under braking. Tube already had two patches so had some use. Called the recovery truck as no spare tube. Usually carry one. Pleasant wait on the farmer's memorial bench. Respects paid again.

Today-Tuesday-A long climb up to about 1100' to Pine Mtn. Fire road. Only 60 F. and windy and overcast-kinda weird for this time of year around here-had fun, though. We stopped and sat down next to a huge bush of Poison Oak, something you want to avoid if you come to California, so I took this pic for reference-it causes an itchy rash that can spread all over your body if you are unlucky. I got it when I was a kid, and am mostly immune to it now, but I don't push my luck and touch it...

Up on the South Downs this morning. Not a soul around, skylarks singing, makes you glad to be alive (and I'm usually such a miserable old bastard!).

Lovely. That's why I'd never take up Road riding. Getting right in the countryside with soil on the tires.
