Today-Saturday-We rode up the steepest way into the Open Space District to the West of town, then dropped down into Tamarancho, along the trail and back home. About 1100' climb and 80 F. and sunny...

Re:

In contrast to where Pat is, it poured with rain all day yesterday, so rather than do the planned road ride, I took my newly built 29'er out for a test run in the local woods.

And very nice it was too.... the bike / ride, not the weather.

And then off for a quick ride round the golf course.

Sunny California-But we are still very dry around here, and hoping for a wet winter-in the meantime I'm not complaining, just enjoying  Nice bike, Neil, is that a rigid fork on it? -Today-Tuesday- A flat ride to SF Bay and back, about 80 F. and Sunny...

Re:

We have had a good long spell of dry weather in the South West of England, well deserved after last winters floods, but I think that is now coming to an end, which is great for bringing on the winter grass (does it show that I own horses), but not good for the farmers who have not yet been able to harvest their arable crops.

In answer, yes, rigid carbon forks from China, sold under the Exotic brand. They are good forks, light and rigid with just enough flex to take the worst of the trail buzz out.

My first ever ride in Bergen. Bergen is a clusterfrack for cyclists. Bridges and tunnels all over the place. For cars mainly. Wanted to get out west to some islands. Took 3 hours to this bridge (where I gave up this ride) and just 1 hour to get back. The sign says "Mental Health call 116 123, Always open". Sums it up pretty well.

I miss those giant trees, even if they do make bicycles look very small.
That church looks more like a CATHEDRAL to me, btw. Awesome.

Re:

Today-Thursday-A beautiful summer day, about 80 F. and sunny-We did a double climb up to the West of town-up to Tamarancho about 800'-then down to the Iron Spring on Broken Dam trail, across the bridge, then straight up to the DriveIn, another 800'. From there it's a fantastic descent through Sherwood Forest, further down the open part of the ridge to a second set of woods, then the high speed descent (45-50 MPH ) of Whites Hill to town...
