Today's Ride

Fantastic, I envy everyone the beautiful weather

The virus that caught me is rampaging around the world was worst than Covid, fortunately only for 4 days. 4 days taken from my life
Remember, good chicken broth and true elderberry juice save......
Tomorrow will be a better day

Take care of yourself ‼️

Yesterday, was meant to be the first proper spin out on the Bianchi but ended up a lesson in checking all bolts when buying used - left crank arm came off mid hill climb with the preload cap completely shearing. One of the crank bolts seemed incredibly loose so best guess previous owner forgot to torque it up, came loose and the preload was the only thing really keeping it on. Fortunately it was less of a grind climb and more sitting spinning so no falls, and on inspection no major damage to splines so avoided replacement costs bar a new preload cap and paying a friend for a lift home, good fun trying to fit it in an early 2000s Suzuki Jimmy!

Had a quick look around a building I pass frequently, think the story goes it never recovered from Covid era closures and shut then not long after that it got burned out. Surprisingly accessible given most other abandoned buildings here of the like tend to be very well secured.

Dropped the car off for its service and came back the other way. Cool and bright, 17 miles 300 odd m uppage. Love tubs; need a 28 rear cog.

Those 600s were designed to go up to 27 iirc, but with the axle right back in the drops, you might not even have to do the devil's work with the b-screw😉 - you've also got quite a difference up front - what's the chainset? And 110? Nice.
Tubs are so smooth👌

Today's Ride, in my case more like Diary of a fat bloke.

Almost 16 miles, most I've done in a single ride on this bike. Felt good... afterwards that is, oh and the downhill bits, they were dead good, I like those. It's just one of my usual rides with an extra few miles of another short loop added on. Only stopped for pictures under one of the bridges as I already took pictures of my Zaskar here but not the Lobster.

Yeah it’s a home brew mash that would have the components’ designers weeping over their drawing boards: sugino 110 50 34 chainset operated by a Suntour superbe front mech; Shimano 600 shifters and rear mech doing the dirty on a Superlegerra campag 7 speed alloy block. It’s very light and works perfectly (at the moment). Being perverse, I’ll stick with the campag freewheel but may swap to a 27 cog (25 at the mo) then see if I can’t persuade the Superbe to haul up from a 33t front. 33x27 will give me the same ratio as 34 28 which is pretty helpful.
