Today's Ride

Sorry for the hijack, but in case you've missed it, my tributes to Pip (big contributor to this thread among many things) via some of his fleet, now featuring this week on Kona Cog. Will add each of the links in due course.

They feature some the pic's he posted here that don't have photobucket watermarks all over them!

Fun fact, I sourced those 94 leggings. They weren't sized correctly and were far too small for my chunky thighs. I knew the whipper-snapper would rock them, and boy, he sure did!

This thread was started by my friend Pat Reddix, known here as FairfaxPat. It's still alive, a tribute to Pat, who is not.

Pat still rides with us. I ride often with Pat's brother. His name comes up on every ride. Pat was the kind of character who generated a lot of... stories. Some were lurid, and others were even more lurid.

He had two hobbies. Riding bikes and smoking weed. That was one of them. Watching motor racing on TV and smoking weed was the other one.

As I pointed out at his memorial, you always knew where Pat stood on any issue, and that was whatever side was the opposite of yours. He was sure that even if you agreed with him, you must still be wrong somehow. Pat applied his impressive intellect to the passionate pursuit of laziness and in challenging you to defend your opinion on whatever subject was on the table. He owned me on the chessboard and he knew three thousand jokes.

My friend for 50 years and too many rides to count, we still miss that old rascal.

Another nice morning, turning into another nice day.

It was windier today, though the wind was a lot warmer than has been recently, ,quite warm when on the bike, nice in the sun and just about right in the shade.

Rode a loop i haven't done for a while, lots of pedalling and a few hills, rare for around here, though the tops are usually in woods resulting in no views. Must have been a bit of rain last night which was noticed on the descents with all the spray, and also windy as there were fresh leaves and branches all over in the woods, which are starting to change colour and already have a coating of leaves on the floor.

Quite a few dog walkers out around some fishing lakes i went by, weekends for you, and a couple of cyclists coming by me. The majority of the ride was quiet though, which is always nice.

Great ride, sunshine and fun trails.
