Sunny, cold and dry, with not much wind (finally!). Went and did the shopping.
12 odd miles; 9kg of shopping plus a bottle of badly-marketed wine; 300m climb; bangers and mash for sup. Perfect ride.

It was cold, windy and dismal outside, and after a tough ride last weekend, I chose a short, easy ride today. I'd heard about some little known relics of local history that caught my attention, so I headed for 'Tetrahedron Field'. And here we are:
The tetrahedra are anti-tank devices, over 100 years old, dating from WW1, when Bekesbourne Aerodrome was located here. Perhaps they were intended to protect the aerodrome from enemy tanks in the event of invasion.
The aerodrome closed in 1940 but local road names reflect its history and a memorial includes a quote from Winston Churchill: 'History with its flickering lamp stumbles along the trail of the past, trying to reconstruct its scenes, to revive its echoes, and kindle with pale gleams the passion of former days.'

The sun was out on Saturday so I took advantage and headed out around the lanes to Dalwood.
At long last, a calm, dry morning. Hints of spring but it was still a chilly 6, 3-4 in the valleys. Blue skies and high cloud, very light easterly breeze.
Pretty sure I broke the land speed record coming into Madron. Swooped into big town which looked much more inviting than yesterdays 10 mile run where I got soaked by the natural sea-spa and the heavens above

I was following you through Pendeen, on my way to work. Couldn’t get alongside you to shout good morning because of the damn bus coming the other way!
Ah yes, and the recycling lorry. I accidently frightened the life out of a lady on her bike, commuting (presumably) to St Ives, about 500m on from there
