I had one of these in a 21 1.2 inch when I was 14 there you can guess my age now , certainly gas pipe, finally converted mine to fixed for the winter in 1984 when i started club riding, had to call my dad when the fork blade snapped only held on by the mudguard stay. Don't overdo it just clean and lube but any bike that sees a new lease of life is good in my books enjoy but check it over not made the same as more expensive frames.

Diesel is your friend.

All came apart easily other than the nds pedal extractor threads are stripped so can't regrease the BB. Unless you know different? I know I could drift it off etc but is it worth it? Could I take the other side off and then tap it through from nds to release the crank arm?

I was just trying to explain to Mrs HM that this was the schoolboy equivalent of a Sky team bike back in the day. The knock off version rather than the race rep. The colour scheme just makes me smile. I'm sixteen again, buying my 25" Coventry Eagle, wishing it was red and Raleigh!

Can you just regrease the bb from the other side, having taken out the d/s cup? No need to get the crank off at all then

I had the same problem with a BB. I took the cup I could get to off the BB and drifted the axle out, but I was not intending to reuse the axle or the BB cups, so as long at the cranks was OK I was happy.

Just been out. WINDY. I wondered who would mention the knackered pads in soak. New ones await. Want to save the BB.

Can't see why I can't remove the drive side cup and bearings, drop the nds crank arm against the cup and then tap the axle through to the drive side and off the crank arm?

Off to shed to try this out........

That'll do for today. Crank off. Axle and balls out. Nds cup left on. Everything clean apart from bars. Next is a bit of a polish. Not a mike muz see your face in it because I go to work and have nothing to do when it get there type polish, just a bit of a spruce up.

How do you get the smell of diesel out of a dog?
