Mike

Are you joking?

We all used to have them on our bikes when were were kids... which for me was back in the late 60's and 70's....... the 1860's and 70's.

Yep I had one also & made quite a bit of noise when going downhill..........

Re: Just taken a massive punt on this time warp Europa pics

It's had a soak and post and stem out. Everything else moves if a bit slowly and not as far as it used to. Sound familiar?

Looking forward to giving everything a good clean at Christmas. Mrs HM says I can sit at the kitchen table. "As long as the whole bike doesn't come in!"

Is there a way to clean up the inside of the original cable outers? Pretty stiff but moving. Would be nice to keep the ribbed cable.

Re:

GT85 and some new inners may do it, just working them backwards and forwards, but you can get new ribbed cables on ebay, I got a set when I built the 78 Dave Lloyd.

Re: Just taken a massive punt on this time warp Europa pics

Just had a look. £19. :? Will try and salvage these or use some jagwire I have in the shed.

Re:

Gotta be worth a go.

Maybe used the current inners to loosen the cr*p, then blast through with GT85 until the rust is gone and put the jagwires in.

Re:

Ribbed cable really respond to acetone applied with a thin stiff make up brush then quickly wiped off with a soft white cloth, works with brake hoods to.

Re: Just taken a massive punt on this time warp Europa pics

Very nice buy, that will clean up nicely.

BTW I still use those computer thingys!

Re: Just taken a massive punt on this time warp Europa pics

Thanks for the suggestions. The computer will go on the wall. Unless you can get a heart rate attachment for it?
