Cover it completely in Vaseline, it will block the oxygen to it and it will suffocate and die in a matter of minutes.

It's worked on both dogs and cats that I've owned, and accidentally snapped the little blighters in two (ticks, not the pets )

You're probably sorted by now tho.....

Strangly no! I was in the shower and just wanted the blighter off, thought it was a spider at first, I'm always caring of spiders (because they eat the flies that i'm not that fond of), and tried grabbing it gently to move him on, but then noticed the buried head and thought you cheeky git!

Head still in my arm.

You can buy little keyring tick removers.I have one but never had to use it.been lucky i guess :?

I have no advice for a buried head... sorry..... but for a whole tick a tick twister works like a charm every time. wonderful invention.

Couldn't dig it out with a pin last night, it was way too deep, so phoned my GP surgery this morning to see the nurse but they said i'll need to go to the hospital :roll:

So went to the walk in clinic and a short wait after i was seen by a nice Scottish GP lady who had seen plenty of these blighters before. So a cut with scalpel and about 10 minutes digging with a pin and the git was out!

I'm going to look into those tools! Cheers for the advise chaps, always a wealth of knowledge on RB

Get some Frontline 'Spot-on'... that'll knock the bugger off in minutes.

We've used it on cats, dogs, ferrets and the kids.

I had the same thing (tick head left in my back) the other week... no way on earth am I going to have someone slice about there with a scalpel to get it out though! Dirty little thing would choose the most ticklish bit (lower back, almost at the side).

First time I've had one, though I've twice successfully removed a tick from my Son... I have no idea how it got there either as I was wearing a long sleeve, long back, high neck thermal base layer which was tucked in!
