Hi Roy,
when ever I see one of those Ti toads my eyes go wet, that I missed buying the last one in 1992 when I was at Cycle&Beach Vancouver B.C.
We made a round trip from Edmonton AB through the Rocky Mtn. Jasper, Banff, Glacier NP, Seattle, down the coast, Yelowstone and turned around at Teaton NP.
I had to stop by at Rocky Mountain factory to get my Altitude TO fixed which was damaged by forces of gravity, so Vancouver was a must to go and stay.
Since I saw the advertisement of Cycle&Beach in the US Mountain bike magazine I wanted to go inside and see the offers.
Sneeking around and talking to the sales guy we stand beside this Ti bike with beautifully welds but equiped underdressed with XT, LX and RS Q10 fork. He told me a little about toad and specially the one we stand aside but I can't remember all, sorry for that. The guy told me that there where 600 frames made and the last one stand right in front of us. I think price tag was around 1.600,-$CDN as on sale.
The flesh was willing but the wallet was weak :-( so finally I left the store.
Not time yet to pick up my frame at RM so I looked around and saw another bike shop across the road, windowshopping.....
Surprisingly they offerd RM bikes and frames so I entered and there was another jewel hanging at the ceiling a RM Tantalus in white with blue lugs, I was blinded. Still that Toad in mind and now a nother temptation in front of me....puuh I had to escape.
Finally we left Vancouver with a fixed Altitude TO frame which made me happy in those days.
Today when I look back I feel sad not having the balls in those days to spend money for the (my) fun in life.
Two years later I bought a DeKerf Mountain at Revolution Cycle in Edmonton just because I knew not coming down to Voncouver this time and get a Toad at Cycle&Beach
All the best for you and your Ti Toad that it will croak for many years
Martin
