Ti seatpost in a steel frame - Shim required?

Hi,

I'm hoping this is a simple question, but I can't seem to find the answer. If I was to put a Titanium seatpost in a steel frame, would I need to use a shim to avoid the metal's fusing? or is it just for like metals? I'm a little confused :?

Example. I'm about to bid on a 27.0 Ti seatpost to fit my Kona, which requires a 27.0 post. However, if a shim is needed, then I'll need a significantly smaller post to take account of the shim width - is that right?

get some ti prep dude!!

Also known as *copper slip*.Basically just another type of grease

if you're out in the rain a lot then a regular greasing.normal dry outdoor stuff ,then just a smidgen, dont go overboard in some sort of blind panic,it takes time for ti to gall so included in your regular weekly or monthly schedule of maintenance will be fine.

Hope this helps :D

Thanks for the advice - I guess I was getting worried about nothing, just need to keep an eye on it, regularly grease it up if I get it muddy/wet and probably worth taking out from time to time.

Right - just need to get the post now!
