7 speeds thumbies run with hidden click are not quite right (8 speed is 4.8mm per cog, while 7 is 5.0). They tend to be a bit tetchy with dirt and / or poor quality cable outers. It's best to set up around gear 3-5 to centre up the mismatch across the cassette.
