Threading cable + kona Velocity stem.

Hoping somebody can help me with some insightful tips as to how to get the cable through the internal routing of a Kona Velocity stem.

Can get the cable into the entry hole but no sign of it coming out the exit hole. Does this mean the internal routing is missing/blocked etc.

Is there a wheel inside the stem ? , make sure its free and rolling and give it some lube. Also I tend to roll the brake cable by hand to give it a curved shape which will guide it through a lot easier. Oh and also make sure the cable is not frayed or have signs of crimping at end, A new cable is your best bet

you could try sucking a bit of thread through with a hoover then using this to pull the cable.

worth a try? :D

i had a velocity stem but the cable poked straight through easily, sorry.

Cheers for the reply fellas,

Had got the stem off the bike to see if there was an opening at the end of the horizontal tube (visible by removing the top cap that the bolt goes into) but hole was tiny and so can't see inside the stem, it's fairly skinny so would be a small wheel.

I like the idea of the hoover to suck/pull a thread through. Will give that a go!

Cheers
