Threading a press-bb shell?

Hello all,
I have a gary fisher something. (still going through the catalogues).
It has a press in BB, seeing as this is a fairly obsolete standard and the bike cost me very little, i was wondering if it would be possible to thread the bb shell.

I have access to all the tools usually necessary for such things, so that isnt a problem, but is the shell the right size?
cheers, Asher.

Is it the same size shell as that on the old Klein frames? If so I did hear it was possible to thread it so an Italian bb would fit. Probably easier to just buy new bearings and an axle though.

The Italian BB standard is larger than BSC, not smaller,

But yes, press in bearings easy to get, axles harder :)

how much did the bearings cost? do you have the part number? i live overseas so i need the part number to check with the local bearing specialist

also, where can i get the axle? i need a smaller length around 110 to 117mm i find the stock axle that came with my s19 '92 Procaliber a tad too long at 127mm

thanks,
rob
