THM's Road/Trail Tour Experience 2016

Like I said, if you want to ask something feel free, rather than telling me what I should be using. I'm perfectly happy with my choice of tent.

Re:

Nice write-up. :D

I was looking at sleeping mats recently, I currently have one of those crummy thin foam mats and last time I went camping I borrowed a Thermarest self inflating mat, not sure which one, but it was so much nicer than the foam thing. Anyway, I came across these the other day, they do some extra large and extra thick mats: https://www.alpkit.com/featured/sleeping-mats

Re:

I would be keen on peoples views on sleeping mats, I still bear the scars from Mayhem when I slept on a stone/rock/boulder/slab :(

Yes. Been researching. Alp kit dirtbag at £50 looks to be good value. I'm a sidesleeper and found my thermarest to be a little thin on hard ground this time. Fine on nice lush grassy fields but a couple of nights were uncomfortable. Have looked at the neoair too. Not as durable though although very light with a small pack size. It's recommended they are used with a foam pad under them so kind of defeats the object.

If you're lighter than me (18st) a standard mat would be fine. Funnily enough I will be selling my standard us military issue thermarest shortly. No holes or repairs. Great condition, one careful owner, not raced or rallied..........

I am, but probably not by as much as I should be at 5' 7". :D

The Dirtbag was the one I was looking at too, seems a nice compromise between thickness, weight and packed size.

I can see why you need the larger tent to contain your rudeness

FFS you said make recommendations so I did. Unless you tried or researched the tents I suggested you are in no position to say they would not make you happier.
If there are any questions about equipment, issues, recommendations etc feel free to ask.

The key word is ask.

Another would be questions.

I'll live with you thinking I'm rude. Learn to read.

Edit: apologies. You can obviously read. The deficiency lies elsewhere.

I didn't ask for recommendations I offered them, based on doing this for a couple of years. Hence my rudeness when you tell me what I need. I've been buying camping kit for 40+ from micro tents for the 'wall walk' coast to coast, to family car camping monsters.

Anyway. This was supposed to be about the riding, camping, experience. That was lovely throughout.
