I'm interested in what you think of it with a shorter fork, I like the look of my bombers and they work well but they have to much travel.

Are they 100mm? My bombers made the bike 'tramline' and after all the work, the knowledge of the extra stress on the headtube finally got to me.

Not riding it today as planned cos daddy bought a new steed. See sig below.

Im all new here. So hey everyone!

Just found out that I want to fix up an old Avalanche. Didn't know it was such huge interest in fixing up retro bikes until I came across this site.

Even before I tried to search the internet I thought of repainting it white like yours. And now I'm even more sure. Looks awesome!

so, after some neglect both in riding and maintenance terms i got a few hours yesterday to have a look at my neo retro zaskar.

i've re-read this thread and really enjoyed remembering the process i went through to get it to where it is. my only regret is due to stuff cropping up i've never really rode it in anger.

so that's going to change.

A couple of key updates on the bike...

Swopped the placeholder stiff forks for some new Recons. Added a poploc left hand controller.
Switched the xt 750 brakes off ready for another project and swapped the wheels, spec stout hubs on xc717 rim wheels with dt black spokes. new tyres on and we're almost there. Just waiting for some replacement cranks to go on and then i'm going to strap my go pro to my head and go and try very hard to fall off at speed.

Do quite a bit of riding on mine and it's surprised me just how well it's held up! There great bikes which have really stood the test of time imo
