The Weird and Wonderful Bicycle Components Thread!

Modolo…. I can’t remember how much postage I’ve paid to get the missing link wires from the US for this beautiful brakes, but they didn’t brake at all

And these CLB brakes, 145gr a pair. Might as well be two marshmallows attached to a piece of string, for all the stopping power you get!
CLB had some wonderful caliper designs, there is a subtle Art Nouveau feel to the curves of the caliper here that carries through from their older brakes.
The transformer/Tron styling is brilliantly cheesy too, would love a pair. The ads and brochures were great.

I love the variety of caliper brake designs over the years, particularly from the 80s onwards. There is no way a disc caliper can be such an expression of the designer's artistry and intent. Feel free to prove me wrong. 😆

I had a set of CLB Pro brakes. The calipers were on the light side of things but the levers were the lightest around for quite a few years. A few years later I came across a set of cheap looking similar shaped calipers on a cooking bike - don't know what they were made of or how well they worked but they were even lighter than a Weinmann 500.
